Until 1881, Étienne-Edmond Martin, Baron de Beurnonville (Paris 1825–1906); 9–16 May 1881, Charles Mège, by purchase from Beurnonville sale, Pillet (Paris), lot 281 [1]. By 1929, Mrs. Harriet H. Jonas (New York 1885–1974) [2]; by 1976, Newhouse Galleries (New York); 1976, Krannert Art Museum, University of Illinois, by purchase from Newhouse Galleries.

Notes:
[1] The Beurnonville sale lists the painting as by Van Eyck. Mège owned it until at least 1909, when his collection was featured in Les Arts no. 86 (February 1909), p. 2-19, where the painting was illustrated and listed as by Memling.
[2] Mrs. Harriet H. Jonas, née Hattie Harris, married David H. Schulte in 1905 and took the name Hattie Schulte. She divorced Schulte in 1929. In 1930, she married French art dealer Edouard Jonas and took the name Mrs. L. Edouard Jonas. They divorced in 1941, and subsequently she used the names Mrs. H. Harris Jonas and Mrs. Harriet H. Jonas.
