Description

Satire on the Palatine War of Succession, Glorious Revolution and Turkish War. At center, Louis XIV of France tries to draw his sword but is stopped by William III. At right, James II's wife Mary lies in her bed next to Father Petre. Her newborn, supposedly the son of James, plays in the foreground with two nurses, who hold up two fingers in the sign of secrecy. A doctor swirls a jar of urine and on the left two Turks lead away a madman. Letterpress on verso in English and French describe the scene in rhyme.
